A patient presents with the lesion on his back. What factors should the provider keep in mind in evaluating this lesion for melanoma?

1 comment:

  1. The ABCDEs of melanoma:
A for asymmetrical = asymmetrical skin lesion
B for border = border of the lesion is irregular
C for color = melanomas usually have multiple colors, including brown, black, white, grey, red, or blue
D for diameter = pigmented lesions greater than 6 mm are more likely to be melanomas than smaller lesions
E for evolution = evolution of a lesion should raise concern for malignancy
